A man from Dunedin, 59-year-old Duane Wagner, is now facing a felony DUI charge related to an accident that happened when he crashed into a tiki bar during a festival, injuring two people. The accident happened in Palm Harbor.
At the time of the accident, Wagner offered to move a car for his friend, 55-year-old Beatrice Cahenzli. Wagner got into the vehicle and accelerated backward, hitting a pole and causing damage. He then accelerated forward and struck Cahenzli. This threw her upward on the hood of the vehicle. He then smashed into a tiki bar and hit four other people.
Cahenzli, as well as 71-year-old Jennifer Schutt, were both injured and taken to nearby hospitals, but they are expected to be okay. Three other people who were hit refused treatment.
When deputies responded to the scene, they noticed that Wagner was visibly impaired. His breath sample indicated .103 BAC. He was arrested for felony DUI.
