Hillsborough County, FL (October 10, 2018) - A motorcycle crash in Hillsborough County on Monday, October 8th left one person with serious injuries.
The crash took place on US 92. According to police, Jonathan Martin Chapple was riding a 1997 motorcycle on US 92 around 7:20 pm. At the same time, 20-year-old T Quan Malik Diggs was driving a 1999 BMW westbound on US 92 when he attempted to make a left turn onto Parsons Street. Diggs turned into the path of Chapple's motorcycle, causing a collision. The motorcycle became lodged beneath the BC. The motorcycle was dragged for several feet before coming to rest.
Chapple was transported by EMS to Tampa General Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Diggs was not hurt in the crash but was cited by troopers for careless driving.
Our thoughts go out to Jonathan Chapple as we hope for a complete recovery from the serious injuries sustained in this crash. Motorcycle accidents account for 14% of all motor vehicles crashes despite the fact that motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered motor vehicles. In this crash, it appears that the driver's negligence caused the crash and the injuries sustained by the motorcyclists.
