The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. at Jacksonville University when an off-duty officer found a car crashed into a building and two people trapped inside. The driver was identified as a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident apparently occurred when a vehicle was driving west on Merrill Road at a high rate of speed. The vehicle went through an intersection and did not stop at a gate. This caused it to crash into a building. Police have reported that nobody on campus was injured.
