Jacksonville, FL (August 5, 2018) – Around 5:00 in the evening on Augst 3, a CSX employee was struck in a serious train accident involving an Amtrak train. The accident occurred near McQuade Street just outside the Moncrief Rail Yard.
The employee was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A spokesperson said that CSX is working in coordination with Amtrak and local authorities to discuss safety regulations and investigate the cause of the crash.
Service on Amtrak Train 98 was temporarily suspended while the investigation continued. There were about 227 customers on the train at the time though there were no other reported injuries.
Officers say that the man had life-threatening injuries and remains in the hospital.

A woman from Brooksville died when her mini-bike crashed into a van. The accident happened on Friday, August 2nd, around 2:45 p.m. Police say that 39-year-old Jayne Elaine Hamlet was riding a 2018 Cole mini-bike. Hamlet was turning out of a residential driveway onto Weeping Wilow Street when she collided with a 2003 Ford E-250 traveling northbound on Weeping Willow. Hamlet was taken to Oak Hill Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a helmet. The Ford driver has not been identified. Read more
