Last evening, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a call from the Red Roof Inn in reference to possible weapons. Officials arrived on the scene where somebody attempted to flee, nearly running over two pedestrians along the way. A vehicle pursuit was initiated by police and ended when the suspect crashed at an intersection combining North Monroe and Tennessee Streets.
Emergency responders came to the scene to provide medical attention to the driver and transported him to the hospital with critical injuries. However, he died at the hospital. While investigating, police had to shut down both intersections in the area.
Tallahassee Police was able to identify the man who they chased in the pursuit as 34-year-old Jerrod Shamburger. Shamburger crashed his Camaro and passed away from his injuries.
