A man was killed last night in a Deerfield Beach accident that happened on Northeast Third Avenue involving a deputy. Family members of the deceased man, Leonardo Littlejohn, said that Littlejohn was driving north when a deputy slammed into his vehicle from behind, causing the vehicle to overturn and crash into a fence. However, deputies say that the deputy was responding to a call at the time and Littlejohn’s vehicle came breezing through a stop sign, striking the cruiser. The car then caught on fire when he was still inside.
Littlejohn was immediately taken to the hospital but died. The deputy sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
