A Melbourne bicyclist was injured and taken to the hospital on Saturday after a hit-and-run accident. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Pineapple Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene and initially saw a bicyclist on the side of the road with serious injuries.
The bicyclist was thrown from his bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle traveling north. A passerby found them and called 911 immediately. The crash was forceful enough to knock the rear wheel off of the bicycle. The whole bike had a bent frame. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no description of the vehicle involved in the accident.
