Ocala, FL - One Killed, One Hurt in Car Accident on State Road 40

Ocala, FL (June 18, 2020) - One person was killed and another injured in a car accident that took place in Ocala on Thursday. 

The Ocala Police Department responded to State Road 40 near Southwest 27th Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Police say that a Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on SR 40 when the driver failed to stop at a stoplight at the intersection. The Elantra t-boned a Chevrolet that had the right of way at the intersection. The Chevrolet driver was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old John Lento of Ocala. The Hyundai driver was treated for minor injuries at Ocala Regional Medical Center and later released.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and charges are pending at this time.

We are saddened to hear of this fatal accident in Ocala.
