Palm Shores, FL (September 12, 2019) - The two victims in a fatal head-on crash that occurred on US 1 have been identified. The crash took place on Wednesday, September 11th.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 81-year-old Peter Avener was driving a 2017 Kia SUV northbound on US 1 when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle. Avner veered into the northbound lanes where his car collided with a 2016 Nissan pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Rabilal Nandlal. Both Avner and Nandlal died in the crash. 36-year-old Takisha Webber received minor injuries in the crash and a fourth person involved was uninjured.
The crash is still under investigation at this time and no further information is available.

A pickup truck collided with a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus on Thursday, October 18th. The driver of the pickup truck, Donald Bennett, was traveling on Springfield Boulevard when he came to a stop sign. Bennett ran through the stop sign and collided with the transit bus on 44th Street. Bennett's truck erupted in flames. He suffered several injuries and was taken to the emergency room following the crash. He says he is still in considerable pain.
