Southwest Miami-Dade, FL (December 10, 2018) - Six bus passengers were injured in a collision in Southwest Miami-Dade on Sunday, December 9th. The event took place just before 5:45 pm near Southwest 246th Street.
Two Miami-Dade police cruisers were traveling on the Busway at the time of the accident. One of the cruisers was traveling southbound with its lights on and came upon a second cruiser traveling eastbound, also with its lights on. The eastbound cruiser attempted to make a right turn and collided with the southbound cruiser. The impact of the crash caused one of the cruisers to strike the transit bus.
Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the collision. Six passengers inside the transit bus were taken to Homestead Hospital with back and neck injuries. There is no additional update on their conditions. The two police officers were not injured in the crash.
The road remained closed for about two hours while the wreck was investigated.
Approximately 250,000 injury crashes will be reported this year in Florida. An injury crash happens suddenly, violently and without warning. Our thoughts are with the six innocent bus passengers injured in this collision and we hope for a speedy and complete recovery.
