Tampa, FL (February 23, 2020) - A 62-year-old man from Plant City was seriously hurt in a three-car crash that took place on the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa. The crash happened on Saturday, February 22nd around 5:00 p.m.
According to authorities, Wayne Parlin was riding a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the northbound lanes of the bridge. Parlin's motorcycle collided with the back of a 2005 Chevy SUV driven by 34-year-old Ayeli Cantu of Tampa. The crash caused Parlin to be thrown from his bike, however, the motorcycle continued traveling until it struck a 2012 Chevy SUV driven by Donna Hubbard, 47. Parlin was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Neither Cantu nor Hubbard were injured in the crash.
Nearly 10,000 motorcyclists, on average, are involved in crashes each year in Florida. Of this number, approximately 8,000 will suffer some type of injury in the crash and about 500 riders will be killed. This rate of death and injury far surpasses the numbers for any other type of vehicle crash. Sadly, many of these motorcyclists will be hurt due to the negligence of other motorists.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim in this crash and we hope for his complete recovery.
